Step your way to success


I bring a short (hopefully sweet) blog for you this Saturday morning. How active are you outside the gym? So many people put all their focus on their training sessions and nutrition and neglect the importance of being active in general. If your goal is simply to get strong with no interest in health and lifestyle benefits then bash on. If your goal is to improve body composition, enhance mental state, general health and well being and overall to feel good then more is required. The good news is the solution is simple...........walk more!

Walking is free, accessable to all, suitable for all fitness levels, time flexible, non skill dependent, functional, sociable or suitable for the anti social, and in my opinion a great way to recharge and unwind. It burns calories without putting too much strain on your body or hindering recovery. Walking is my life! My dog loves it, I love it, and my other half REALLY loves it! ; )

If your job or daily lifestyle keeps you active and on your feet then clocking up the steps is probably not an issue for you. For those of you stuck at a desk all day, have a little think about how active your lifestyle really is. If you're trying to improve body composition and finding that despite sticking to your training and nutrition plan you're making slow progress, could this be the missing link? Sometimes the simple solutions are so obvious that we overlook them. Clocking up 10,000 steps a day could equate to around 400 calories on average. Take that additional calorie burn over a 7 day week and you've got a 2800 deficit, almost 1 pound of body fat!!! Combine that with your training sessions and nutrition plan and hey presto, the magic happens. Sorry if you still believe the secret lies in a magic potion.......IT DOESN'T! If you want it, walk for it! ; )
